Plum update
For those who e-mailed us that we could try giving our plums away... There are large baskets of plums at the information table at church, on the tables at the school cafeteria, in front of shops. And they are too small to fit in a skeet shoot. Other suggestions?
Here's a 10 things to do with plums article: http://www.ocregister.com/articles/plum-plums-sugar-2118771-cup-add
Another site looked good: Plum Ratafia
1 bottle of inexpensive Riesling 1 cup coarsely chopped, pitted Italian plums 1/4 cup sugar 1/4 cup Clear Creek Mirabelle Plum Eau-de-Vie (blue plum would also work)
Combine ingredients in a large, lidded jar and stir briefly to help dissolve the sugar. Refrigerate, covered, for 3-4 weeks. Strain through cheesecloth into an empty bottle of wine. Drink chilled. (Keeps for 1-2 weeks at most.)
Question: is it better to have too many plums, tomatoes, or zucchini??? (do you remember the year we had too many turnips? - yuck)
