Wine? Darn. We forgot the wine... Also, no metal detectors but we did get to melt metal with an oxy-acetalyne torch in accordance with obscure Finnish traditions. Miss you guys.

I thought there was no way I could be jealous... and then you had to bring out the acetylene torch wild-card. Rats, foiled again.

Basically, you melt little tin horsehoes (lucky horseshoes) and pour it into water. The shape that the metal solidifies into is supposed to signify your fate in the coming year. Way cooler than casting entrails, eating saurkraut or what have you... Andy

PS. Though I think the kids liked the fireworks better.
